The 58th Annual Conference is Virtual!

AFCC is pleased to present its 58th Annual Conference in a virtual format over a two-week period in June 2021. On June 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, participants can make an a la carte selection of pre-conference institutes. These sessions are four hours in length and offer a more intensive focus on specific topics. The week of June 7-11 will feature two plenary sessions and 26 conference workshops on a range of topics, with a focus on the conference theme, When a Child Rejects a Parent: Are We Part of the Problem or the Solution? AFCC will offer a bonus series of on-demand recorded sessions on a variety of topics that will be included with the conference package. Access to recordings of all conference sessions is included in the registration rate.

A Conference You Can Tailor to Your Availability

The AFCC 58th Annual Conference features nearly 35 hours of live programming, and many additional hours of recorded sessions. You can engage in live sessions, but if the session is too late or early in your time zone, or you have a scheduling conflict, or just need to get outside for a walk, you can always catch up by viewing the recordings later!

Meet the Presenters During Zoom Breaks

Forty-five minute breaks between sessions give you chance to grab a bite to eat, answer emails, or drop into the break rooms and experience live Q&A with some of our conference presenters.

Yoga and Meditation are Back!

AFCC’s own Sherry Cassedy and Rebecca Stahl are excited to offer virtual meditation and yoga sessions to start, or depending on where you live, conclude your day. Schedule to be announced.

Participate Live from All Corners of the World

The schedule is designed so that as many sessions as possible are offered during waking hours to encourage live participation. The sessions will take place in the morning for Australians and New Zealanders, late morning to late afternoon for west coast North Americans, early afternoon to early evening for east coast North Americans, and early to late evening for Europeans. The entire conference will be recorded for registrants who wish to watch at their convenience; however, you must attend the live sessions to receive a certificate of attendance.

What’s Included?

The registration fee includes live attendance at the two plenary sessions and 13 workshops, as well as access to recordings of all 26 workshop sessions and both plenary sessions. AFCC will also offer a bonus series of on-demand recorded sessions on a variety of topics that will be included with the conference package. Opportunities to interact with colleagues online will be available during breaks and in the AFCC Virtual Hospitality Suite. Yoga and meditation is also included. Pre-conference institutes are available, both live and recorded.

What Equipment Do I Need?

AFCC recommends using a desktop or laptop computer to take full advantage of Zoom’s capabilities. Not only will this provide a better viewing experience, it will give you access to features not available on the Zoom app on tablets and smartphones. A Zoom account is not required if you are simply joining Zoom meetings or webinars as a participant. It may, however, be simpler to sign on if you have an account. A stable internet connection is important for the best experience. If you lose internet service, you can use call-in numbers for the webinar and follow the slides, which can be downloaded in advance of each program. If you need assistance, you can always call the AFCC office at 608-664-3750.

A Note About Time Zones

As much as we tried, it was not possible to schedule all sessions for daylight hours in all countries. If times do not work for you, please remember that registration includes access to conference recordings. Participants can select the local time zone on the Conference Portal. Please double-check your local time.

Conference Scholarships

Conference scholarships will be available. Scholarships include registration for three pre-conference institutes and the conference, access to all social activities, including the virtual hospitality suite, yoga and meditation, and a certificate of attendance. The scholarship application is available on the AFCC website. The application deadline is March 31, 2021. Recipients will be notified in mid-April. If you have any questions, please contact AFCC Communications Coordinator, Gina Wentling, at gwentling@afccnet.org.
